Is trek compulsory or is helicopter available?

The 19 km trek from Gaurikund is the traditional route. Helicopter from Phata/Guptkashi is available at extra cost, subject to weather.

What fitness level is required?

Moderate fitness required for the trek. Horses and palki (palanquin) are available. Consult your doctor if you have heart or respiratory conditions.

Warm woollen clothes (temperature drops below 0°C at night), rain gear, comfortable trekking shoes, personal medicines, and a valid ID proof.
